Why this exists
LocalPilot was built for stubborn, everyday situations: a phone with a dead or cracked touch screen, a spare handset under the TV, recovering files or finishing setup when you cannot tap the panel. It stays on your Wi-Fi on purpose so control is not exposed to the public internet.
How the two apps fit together
- Remote (Android) installs on the phone you want to drive. It shows an IP address.
- Controller (iPhone, iPad, or Android) installs on the device in your hand. Type that IP and connect.
Get the apps
- Controller: search for LocalPilot Controller in the App Store or Play Store.
- Remote: Download LocalPilot Remote on Google Play.
Safety
- Use only on phones and networks you are allowed to operate.
- Not for hacking, stalking, or controlling someone else's device without permission.
- Not for remote access over the internet. That was left out deliberately.
- Keep both devices on the same trusted Wi-Fi. Turn off router client / AP isolation if they cannot see each other.
Common fixes
- On the remote phone, finish setup: notifications, accessibility, and unrestricted battery.
- If the address changes after a reboot, open Remote once and copy the new IP into Controller.
- Screen sharing needs a one-time approve tap on the phone each session; buttons still work without video.
