1. Who we are
LocalPilot is published by Syed Tasavour. Contact: localpilot@syedtasavour.com.
2. What LocalPilot is for
LocalPilot is a local Wi-Fi helper for your own Android phone. Typical uses:
- Driving a phone whose display or touch screen is cracked, black, or unresponsive
- Using a spare or secondary phone as a media box, kitchen display, downloads machine, or always-on appliance under a TV
- Recovering files, finishing setup, or backing up a phone you can no longer tap comfortably
- Operating a phone plugged into HDMI / a monitor when standing next to it is impractical
The Remote app runs on the Android phone being driven. The Controller app (iOS or Android) runs on the device in your hand. They talk to each other only on your local network.
3. Local-only by design (security)
LocalPilot was intentionally built without internet remote access, cloud accounts, or a relay server. That is a security choice: control stays on the Wi-Fi you trust, between devices you own. It is not a hacking tool, not for controlling phones you do not own, and not for reaching a device from outside your home network. If you need that kind of product, LocalPilot is the wrong app.
4. Data we process
- Connection settings. The last IP and port you typed are stored on the controller device so Connect can pre-fill. They stay on that device.
- Control traffic. Pointer, keyboard, navigation, media, and app-launch commands travel as local WebSocket messages between your controller and your remote phone. They do not go through LocalPilot servers.
- Optional screen frames. If you start screen sharing, frames travel on a second local WebSocket to the controller. They are not uploaded to LocalPilot.
- On-device logs (iOS controller). An in-app log may keep recent connection events on the device so you can diagnose problems. You can clear it in the app.
5. Device permissions
Controller needs local network access so it can reach the remote phone on your Wi-Fi. It does not need microphone, contacts, photos, or location for core control.
Remote (Android) needs accessibility (to tap and type), notifications (to keep the control server alive), a battery exemption (so the phone does not kill the service), and optional screen-capture consent when you start screen sharing. You grant those on the phone you own; you can revoke them in system Settings.
6. What we do not collect
- No LocalPilot user accounts or passwords
- No analytics SDK that profiles you for advertising
- No sale of personal data
- No cloud relay of your control session
- No remote-over-the-internet mode
7. Third parties
App stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) may process install, crash, and review data under their own policies when you download or rate the apps. LocalPilot itself does not send your control session to third-party analytics.
Anyone on the same Wi-Fi who knows the remote address can connect, because LocalPilot does not require a password on the control link yet. Use it only on networks you trust, and only with phones you own or are authorized to operate.
8. Acceptable use
You may use LocalPilot only on devices and networks you are allowed to control. Do not use it to access someone else's phone without permission, to bypass lock screens for unauthorized access, or for any illegal purpose. The product exists to keep a broken or dedicated phone useful in your home, not to invade privacy.
9. Children
LocalPilot is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
10. Retention and deletion
Connection settings and logs stay on your devices. Uninstalling the app removes that local data, subject to your operating system.
11. Security
Keeping the link local is the main security boundary. There is no end-to-end encryption layer beyond your Wi-Fi, and there is no app password yet. Protect physical access to the remote phone and stay on a trusted network.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do.
